When Rock met Soul…

The music of Dj’s Flying Circus is a celebration of Sankofa: the commitment to retrieving the wisdom of the past to ignite the innovation of our future. This is the heart of Progressive Soul—an oath to push the boundaries of art, experiment without fear, and capture that elusive splice of freedom. When we step onto the stage, we aren't just playing songs; we are catching lightning in a bottle.

The Collective The "Circus" operates as a high-functioning artistic ecosystem, where every member is an architect of our sonic environment. Our sound is constructed through a collaborative interplay of roles:

  • Rhythm Section:

    • Deyontae (Dj) Patterson (Composer & Rhythm Guitarist), Matteo Mikhail-Brown (Lead Guitarist), Reagan Reuvekamp (Bass Guitarist), Tamara Singaraja (Keyboardist), Aadil Ansar (Drummer)

  • Horn Section:

    • Isaiah Ahmed (Trumpet), Sami Massouh (Alto Sax), Becky Pan (Alto Sax), Ben (Tenor Sax), Esme Pataracchia (Tenor Sax)

  • Vocalists:

    • Fiona Hall (Lead Vocals), Deja-Lee Thompson (Lead Vocals), Synthia Rosenberger (Back-up Vocals), Michael Mensah (Back-up Vocals), Vin Jayasekara (Back-up Vocals)

  • Behind-The-Scenes: Beyond the music, our production and creative team orchestrate the logistics, visual art, and community partnerships that bring our "Circus" to life.

    • Margaret Qin (Manager & Event Organizer), Archish Sadeesh (Producer & Sound Engineer), Nikolai Jagessar (Photographer), Varun (Videographer)

We don't just perform; we build an inclusive umbrella for diverse collaborators, transforming every stage into a space for cultural exchange and technical mastery.

“To this rock, we are condemned to conquer…”

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

At the heart of Dj’s Flying Circus is the conviction that music is a vehicle for liberation—and that true progress requires us to show up for our community.

In November 2025, we channeled this belief into "Jam for Jamaica," a project that pushed us to move beyond the stage and into the role of organizers. We saw an urgent need for support following a crisis in Jamaica, and we knew that our collective could serve as the bridge to bring people together.

This was no ordinary performance; it was a multi-stakeholder, 3.5-hour benefit concert that demanded the same technical rigour we apply to our music. From comprehensive scheduling and complex sound logistics to forging long-term partnerships with venue hosts like The Grind, the project forced us to operate as architects of an experience.

The result was a profound success: we raised $1,394.94, with 100% of proceeds directed to the Jamaica Foundation Hamilton.

For us, "Jam for Jamaica" proved that the "Circus" is more than a band. It is a hub for radical action. It demonstrated that when you combine the infectious energy of Funk and Soul with a clear, community-focused mission, you don't just entertain—you ignite change. This project remains a cornerstone of our identity, standing as a reminder that every chord we strike, every horn line we write, and every beat we drop should be part of a larger story—one that uplifts, organizes, and moves the needle for the people around us.
